About Us
Given the hyper-connected and interdependent nature of the Sustainable Development Goals, we believe that radical collaboration is needed to deliver sustainable solutions. Our group goes beyond describing the problems of unsustainable growth, we focus on evidence-based solutions to the grand challenges of our day. Our group combines intense curiosity with bold humility, recognizing we have much to learn from sharing solutions. Addressing solutions that deliver on the SDGs, we recognize locally-rooted innovation can be connected globally through our platform.

WHY
Making An Impact
We face global environmental, social and economic challenges that together threaten to overstep our planetary boundaries. In 2015, 193 countries adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – the first agreed actionable agenda by the global community for all citizens. The 17 SDGs and their 169 targets represent a common purpose demanding a surge of creativity and partnership working to create solutions that deliver a good life for all today and for all our tomorrows. We invite you to act, not react and deliver together a world where no-one is left behind.
The SDG Solutions Group clusters its activities in research and education projects around key themes designed to promote development and application of solutions as well as enabling people to engage in pro-SDG behaviors. The SDG Solutions Group is arranged around four activity dimensions:
Here we describe individual projects that are systematic investigations, including research development, testing and evaluation, designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge. We have highlighted the connections of our research to the SDG goals, delivery of which may be advanced through these evidence-based solutions. We recognize the interconnectedness of the ‘system’ in highlighting how a research project may contribute to one or more goals. Our plan is to include research beyond that conducted solely with researchers at Harvard University, in particular highlighting local and community-based enquiry often at the core of innovation relevant in a global context.
Here we describe our education programs and courses alongside open and bespoke executive education programs and online offerings. We believe that education transforms lives and that educational interventions can have profound influences on moving towards delivery of the SDGs. Sustainability literacy, sustainability leadership, purpose-driven transformation and innovation lie at the heart of profound global shifts needed for people to navigate the VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous) conditions of our world and find their purpose.
Here we recognize the importance of the connections universities and colleges make with public, private and plural organizations. We consider business can be a force for good when it recognizes its responsibilities beyond the shareholder imperative, reaching out to a wider stakeholder group comprising consumers, employees, the community and the environment. We want to find ways to be a convening place for conversations, a place for radical collaboration where those invested in the shared future of humanity can work together to advance the SDGs.
Here we describe the events we are hosting, convening, participating in or consider relevant to accelerating delivery of the SDGs. Events will include standing global conferences as well as community-led events and initiatives. We encourage you to contribute to the events we showcase on our SDG Solutions site by getting in touch with us.
